Can never have enough Ragnars...

Last month's Brother Vinni trial order also included a few Viking models to add to my swelling Dark Age collection.  The first one to paint was, of course, another Ragnar Lodbrok. This makes the second one this year and five overall in the collection.  I think this model is also the most "Travis Fimmel" Ragnar model I have done so far.

As with the other Brother-Vinni models these are all cast in Resin, and the detail is crisp and easy to pick out with a brush.  There was very little in the way of flash or seams on this one.  I am still getting used to the light weight of resin figures, though the cost is usually 2-3x that of metal figures.  I am not sure if that is materials, or just the "Games Workshop" effect where people are used to paying outrageous sums for resin models.

I also picked up a couple of Resin standards to add to the collection as well as two more "Valkeries"  in this case "Astrid" who looks more like Lagertha from the series "Vikings" and an armored standard bearer to go with her.

I am not sure when I may get around to doing more updates on the page. As it stands I have about 1100 points worth of painted models since the quarantine started that I have not put up on the blog.  Something about spending all my time working on-line has sapped my interest in spending social time here.  Perhaps in the fall.  I hope all is well for any who lasted this long.

  1. Very nice, although I don't get resin models at 2-3 times the price of metal. This one looks to have a pretty modern looking hairstyle.

You know, you obviously need at least 3 more Ragnars; the final one would be Ragnar-achte!

    "I'm Rag - a- nar the achte I am, Rag-a-nar the achte, I a m, I am..."

OK, I know I'm not helping increase your blogging time, LOL!

In my scheme, a unit only counts for painting etc when it has been posted to the blog.

    1. Oh Peter, this is bad. As Huey Lewis would say, "sometimes bad IS bad..."

    2. Too many Ragnars would simply unsettle the entire collection. More of a Ragnarok if you will.

  2. Nice work, Jake! Hope you can get your situation back to normal such that blogging no longer remains a chore. Have you at least been hitting the bike with vigor during breaks?

    1. Not looking too promising as I am responding four days late. Mason and I are hitting the road fairly regularly. I do 10-15mi rides with him. Also doing longer solo rides. finally managed the Pullman-Troy round trip a couple weeks ago.

    1. I suppose "raised by wolves" will also generate some scifi Fimmels to paint as well.
