More Winged Lancers

It took some time, but I managed to actually complete the other half of the Warlord Games Polish Winged Hussars.  These were the five models with their lances couched.  They make a fine second unit or the front rank for a large 10-man unit.

There is a lot of assembly for these models and the wings have relatively weak attachment points.  I am quite happy with the look overall, though I will need to get a few more in time to round out the units.  Warlord sells these in a set of 8 or a blister of three models which does not round out very well.  I also substituted Wargames Atlantic horses for the one metal ones that came with the set, so I may have to come up with a use for the Warlord horses at some point.

The overall paint scheme started with a black undercoat with white zenithal spray.  I laid down the basecoats using AP Speed paints and then built up the highlights using traditional acrylics.  It makes for a good depth of color and looks fine with massed troops like this.

For basing, I have been experimenting with using more of the weathering pigments I picked up several years ago.  It is basically a mud paster with a Paratrooper Tan dry brush and a smattering of red-brown, black-brown and more yellow powders.  The bases ore 3d printed samples I have been trying out along with the 5 model movement tray.

Thanks for looking.
