I finally got around to finishing more of my Plastic Arab Infantry from Gripping Beast. You get 40 figures with the box so I opted for two stands of Spearmen and two stands of Archers. These guys are great for massed Infantry units as many are already molded with the shield arm in place, with requires less assembly overall. The depth/crispness of detail is better than the Wargames Factory sculpts and on par with Fireforge Games. I went with very simple bold colors for the stand, and made an effort at arab-esque scribbles for the shields. (Most of them are some permutation of STOP or SLOW DOWN)
The Standard bearer is actually Black Tree Design, and I think he fits in well with the group. Just need to put the finishing touches on the other stand now.
These look great! Any issues putting the figures together, body parts, shields, spears? etc.
ReplyDeletecheers,
The assemble very well. One difference I found with this kit versus most of the other plastics I have done of late is they went for a minimum of gluing. About 1/2 the figures are cast as a full body with left arm attached. Your just add the heads and right arms. The Spears, Swords and Trumpets are all cast with an attached arm.
DeleteI like them! We need to get our Reconquista stuff into the gaming queue.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your Renaissance project on Sunday.
*grin*
DeleteAgreed. I have two more stands of commanders about done for my Arab army. I have an eclectic group prepared for Sunday just to give us a view of the capabilities of the units of the period.
DeleteVery nice! I am "mixing" mine with Artizan figs, they seem to be getting along just fine :) Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI have some artizen that will be serving beside them. No issues so far.
DeleteThey came out very well.
ReplyDeleteIs that "Stop!" in Arabic?
Thanks. The Arabic writing on "stop" and "slow" street signs look vaguely martial when scribbled onto these tiny shields.
