I finally completed my second stand of Foundry Gendarmes. These guys have been a lower priority as I have a plethora of GW Empire Cavalry painted and ready to use, but they are just such a colorful bunch I thought I should do some more. This time I went with a mixture of yellows and reds to complement my 'Spaniards' as I intend these guys to represent Men-at -Arms for my Charles V force. I have enough models with Heavy barding to complete two core Gendarme/Household stands for each side , and will use the unbarded horses to make it easier to spot the lower VBU Men-at-Arms.
Very nice knights. Do you plan to use them along with GW knights. I don't have any Foundry, but the Old Glory knights I have are smaller (all-around) than the GW figs I have. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteThe Foundry knights are about the same size ( I think the Perry's sculpted for both companies), however the horses are smaller than the old GW plastics. I will do some comparison shots in the near future.
DeleteGood looking Heavy Cavalry, and great spirals!
ReplyDeleteGreat knights! I really like your armor treatment especially the guy in the center.
ReplyDeleteThanks I am trying different techniques using a 'metallic luster' additive from Vallejo as well as The Army Painter metallics. The guy in the middle is done with Gunmetal Base, Silver highlight, and then the edges in Polly Brass and Army Painter Gold.
DeleteGreat results!
DeleteGreat looking spirals, love them, this unit is really awaesome!
ReplyDeleteVery nice mate. It looks like the spirals are glued on? If that's the case then it's jolly clever. If not, you've a far steadier hand and keener eye than most!
ReplyDeleteI found an old container of RC Car pin-striping tape I purchased years ago, and have been using it as a mask. I usually paint the lances in a single color base coat, seal it, wrap it in the tape and then paint the second color. When complete, you remove the tape and clean up the edges. The tape is red, so I tried just using it for two of the lances you see. That said, it is already peeling, so I am going to go back to using paint only.
