Finally complete! Here is the Warasdiner-Kreutz Regiment to round out the light infantry contingent of the Austrian army:
The regiment was selected based on their presence at numerous battles I am interested in fielding as well their white uniform making a nice counterpoint to reds and browns of the other two regiments completed so far(Banal- Grenz, Slavonich-Brooder Grenz) I now have enough figures to field most the battles that interest me in the time period. Especially as my attempt a Chotusitz demonstrated that I would not be able to represent regiments with both stands until I get a bigger table. I have also exhausted my current supply of 10mm SYW figures, so we are putting a pause on this project for now. I certainly have more than enough 10mm ACW and 28mm EVERYTHING ELSE to occupy the painting table for the time being. For now, it is nice to bask in the glow of completing another long term hobby project. Now I just need to actually get them out onto the table.
Very fine looking Grenz AND Austrian army, Jake! Are all of the figures from Old Glory? By the way, I renewed my lapsed Old Glory Army card last month. Perhaps you may want to place an order for more 10mm SYW troops?
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of the figures are old glory. There is a smattering of Pendraken cavalry and artillery sprinkled in the collection. I have some Pendraken infantry, but I plan to purge it at some point as it doesn't 'fit in' with the rest of the army. I might pick up some more figs, I am not sure what direction I want to go with this project yet.
DeleteSplendid work and impressive to see the project get to this “Finished” stage, we all know that never really happens, When I set out I had in my mind that it would take me 3 or 4 years Before I could achieve the appearance and scale I was looking for. Absolutely we need to see these guys in battle !
ReplyDeleteIf only I was not located adjacent to the highest per capita infection rate in the country right now....
DeleteFantastic collection in such a short time! I am starting 2 grand scale armies too, but don' t think to reach my goal in a year! :-) If you want to expand your collection, a Russian army would be the logical next step...
ReplyDeleteCheers Fedja
I thought about moving onto the Russians, but if you look at my archive I recently finished a massive 18mm Russian Army to face Jon's Prussians at Kunersdorf. I am not sure I am mentally sound to recreate that entire army again....
DeleteA handsome regiment, and a very satisfying project completion, Jake!
ReplyDeleteThank you sir! The goal is to get a workable Chotusitz scenario out on the table before summer.
