10mm Austrian Reinforcements

I decided to end the weekend by expanding my 10mm SYW efforts somewhat.  Another 3 regiments of Austrian Infantry muster off the table.  I am staying with a rather generic approach, so I did 1 each in red, blue and light blue.

I have just enough figures left over to do one more reinforced regiment, so I am going to try out a unit with 3 ranks versus 2 to see what I think of the mix.  As it is I am building two of each regiments colors with an Liebfahne on one and Regimentsfahnes on the other in case I want to use them as Battalions versus regiments.

  2. Very nice and a good rate of output. The basing of two larger bases per unit looks a good solution for unit management on the table.

    1. Basing is always a struggle. I like single unit basing, but I also like to be able to wrangle the unit on the table, show columns, etc.

    1. I concur. Is is large enough to make out some details, but still provide mass.

  5. Looking good, Jake! How do you like the Old Glory strips?

    1. I find them quite enjoyable to paint. They are essentially large Baccus style strips and a nice change of pace from the GHQ singleton figs. I am using the same 30x120mm basing as you did for the 18mm, so I am really leaning towards using three ranks of 20 instead of just two in the future. The Old glory figs lend themselves to this rather well, but the Pendraken fig's bases are too thick.

    2. Three ranks will look great! I like OG ACW 10s a lot and hav painted many hundreds of them.

    3. The transition will of course require me to re-base the existing Regiments and order more figs... But it is a marathon, not a race!

  6. They look excellent, Jake!
Personally, I'd vote for 2 ranks rather than 3, but it's really about what looks best to you regardless!

    1. Thanks. I have gone back and forth on it. The two-rank depth looks a little sparse to my eye at this scale. It is part of the reason I transitioned from 2 rank deep 30x60 bases with my 6mm figs to 3 rank deep 35x55 bases.

    1. Thanks, it is a fun scale. Now that I have a larger game space, I have grown to prefer it over 6mm. Heresy, I know.
