Yari(?) Thursday

Let's end off the month with another project update.  This time it is a set of kneeling Ashigaru from Perry miniatures.  As mentioned on Teppo Tuesday, I am almost out of Ashigaru figures, so I am opting to do a mixed unit of Spear, bows and handguns for a detachment of Yukinaga's 1st Division for my Imjin War project.  I like the kneeling pose as they should work well with a group of Handgunners firing over their heads.  The next phase will be to add a few more spearmen and an attachment of bowmen to defend the handgunners while they reload.

I also took some time to whittle away at my massive backlog of Samurai.  I have a large collection of them in various states of completion and tend to work on them when the fancy catches me or I have a little color left over on the pallet.  It is definitely helping me generate an eclectic bunch.

I am hoping to post a nice mixed bag of minis on the blog here in December as I try to reduce the number of neglected/unfinished models sitting around the painting desk.

  1. The trio in black lacquered armor is fantastic!
You, too, are really picking up the pace.

    1. I would like to think I am picking up the pace, but this is really more about clearing out the backlog.

  2. Yari nice! :-)
The samurai are pretty over the top, in the best Landsknecht tradition of the era!

    1. It is one of the things I like about both projects. They are contemporaries who both opted for a little outlandish expression
