Egyptian Skirmishers

A batch of Egyptian missile troops to protect my infantry.

I managed to produce three stands of Skirmishers in this outing

Two units of Egyptian Archers

And a unit of Javelins

Finally another (T) unit of Archers to join the main battle line.

This is the last of my infantry figures on the pile right now, but I do have some reinforcements en route from the latest BTD Flash Sale.  Hopefully there will be enough time to get the chariots done, so I can claim to have reached the bottom of the pile on a project for once....

  1. Nice job, and congrats on finishing the whole pile (well, for the moment, at least!). It's an achievement few of us could claim!

    Cheers,
    Aaron

    1. It is a task that is only possible because I cannot find a package of chariots that arrived while I was out of town a couple months back....

  2. Good work! Your Egyptians are coming together quickly. This will be fine army! I enjoy seeing a variety of skintones but especially like the dark chestnut coloring on your skirmish stands. What color is that? The hide shields look good too.

I have a pack of the BTD javelin men in the painting queue to add to the one Egyptian chariot painted so long ago.

    1. The base tone for the browner skin is Leather Brown with US Khaki highlights. The redder tone is Cavalry brown with German Light Red-Brown for the highlights. I found a "skin-tone" reference chart on-line with helpful guides for getting the right look for different regions.

I have two chariots near to completion. I just need to drill and pin the crews. They seem very cramped.

    2. If you can locate that painting guide, I would enjoy seeing it.

    3. Here is one of them http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1310-ethnic-skintones

He does a good job of presenting a wide pallet of colors to pick out the essential mix. I am only using 3 colors (base, mix, highlight) for mine, but overall I am happy with the mixtures. It is a far cry from my usual approach with Europeans of "Sunny Skin Tone, Wash, highlight"
