A few months back, I stopped by Games Matrix in Tacoma and found some Battle Honors "El Cid" mini packs. I grabbed one of the light infantry packs to get some actual 'Spanish' miniatures to add to my El Cid Impetus force. This is also my first attempt at using the North Star Spears that Jon recommended (and promptly stabbed myself in the hand repeatedly during the basing process.) Regular super glue won't hold these in place, so I am trying 2-part epoxy.
I have also added a mounting block for unit stats in the back corner of the base. Jon had these on his stands during our recent Impetus game, I think they made things much more streamlined.
Quite right about both the Northstar spears and epoxy combination. Both are recommended. The downfall is that the epoxy doesn't allow the spear to break away from the figure with pressure. Instead, the sharp spear plunges deeply into your finger or belly if you lean into them!
ReplyDeleteNice looking stand. We should plan another game with our collections.
Dare we try something in December?
DeleteWhy not? We both have time off during the holidays.
DeleteVery nice paintbrush and basing!
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteI hate gluing stuff - I usually use Superglue for the initial fix, and then apply epoxy over it for long term strength. Are you using a pin vice or something top hold the (evidently very pointy!) spears in place while the epoxy sets?
ReplyDeleteNope, I am using your technique. A small drop of CyA, accelerent, then epoxy.
