More Confederate Infantry

With all of my GHQ infantry complete, I decided to branch out again and get some test figs from Pendraken.  I had hear good things about them, and they had some figs that would fill in some 'holes' in the collection.  I opted to get a smattering of figs to test out the range.

I went with a couple of packs of CSA Firing troops, some Straw Hat Zouaves, Raider Cavalry and some named generals (Sherman and Stuart)
Overall, I like the figs, though the detail is not as crisp as my GHQ figs.  The base tabs are large, similar to what you get with Crackerline, so it is hard getting more than 8 on a base.  They would not mix well on the same base
Size comparison with GHQ figs

Face to face, the Pendraken definitely pack more heft.
No flags yet, as I have to get the hang of printing them at the right size.  That said, I have been enjoying painting the flags on my GHQ models.  Never thought that could happen.

  1. One of the things that I like about using different manufacturers is that it is one way to tell the units apart by their tabletop appearance.

Should be ready for a game pretty soon!

    1. I would be happy to get at least one game in this year. Timing is the eternal issue.

  2. What are the Cracker Line figures like? The photos on the Timecast web site are bad.

    1. You can see some closeups in my September posts on Wilders Lightning Brigade. I would say they are similar to these figures, although the. 'Plank Road' line has a lighter build.

  3. Getting to be a fine collection with a variety of manufacturers' models. I like that!

  4. You've done a fantastic job, but I have to admit that the Pendraken figures look like beautifully painted gobs of chewing gum standing next to those GHQ models.

    1. GHQ are like min 28s while Pendraken are larger Baccus figs. The key is to think about how they look from 2to 3' away.
