Reinforcements have arrived

The 10mm project marches on.  Three more Union regiments join the fray.  I did these using a mix of six different GHQ USA Infantry Packs.  I decided to keep the Kepi and Slouch hat figs distinct to help with unit ID.   I have read much debate on the proper distribution of headgear for either the Eastern or Western theaters, and I have decided not to participate.  I plan on mixing my Confederate units as another means of creating visual differences between the two forces.

I am improving on my impressionist approach to the hand painted flags.  The regimental flags look almost passable.

The collection of figs included several packs of Skirimishers which I have opted to add as a kneeling front rank for several stands.   (You get 16 kneeling figs per pack.)  The remaining skirmisher models will be used to make some disorder markers down the road.

This completes all of the regular infantry I have collected so far, so it is time to tackle the Zouaves I suppose..

  2. I just love the micro scales. The mass effect is just so impressive. So much better than the 28mm "12 guys is a regiment"

  3. They look great!
I think 10mm is really a good fit for ACW, as previously noted. Less detail that doesn't matter than 15's, but enough to keep anatomy and the key details vs 6mm. I agree with your keeping head wear uniform in a unit as an identification aid.

I'll keep my own 28's for Napoleonics, etc., however.

    1. Thanks Peter. Your 28s are the inspiration for all of my 6mm paint schemes.
