Ikko Ikki Yummi

Some missile troops finally get attention in my Samurai skirmish project.  These happy fellows are from the Wargames Factory Ashigaru Missile Troop boxed set.  These are roughly the same body sculpts as the Ashigaru spearmen, but with the option to use Teppo (Arquibus) or Yummi (Long bow).  For support troops, you get the option to do a couple ammo carriers with packs stuffed full of arrows, and a leader with a bamboo baton to direct fire.

These guys were done in the same black armor base I did for the Naginata armed figures from the main boxed set.  They should work fine as either Ikko Ikki or Uesegi reinforcements.  The other sixteen figs just got primered, and will consitute and unit of Teppo for each side.  Given my current rate of completion, look for them in the next 2-16 weeks.

  1. You're putting out some nicely painted samurai/ashigaru. What a great line from WF, a nice alternative to build up larger forces.

    1. I really like the Wargame's Factory stuff, because it allows me to try a new era for a relatively low cost. Having painted both the plastics and the metal castings, I find I much prefer the metal for skirmish play as they have a greater depth to their detail, which makes it easier to paint.

  2. Nice additions.

I know it's silly, but the title makes me think of a child trying tbhree new foods, and his response to same!

    1. I thought something similar, so its either widespread or at least not a unique form of insanity....

  3. 2-16 week estimated completion? That is a pretty wide margin, there.
This project is shaping up nicely.
