My big project of late has been clearing all of my partially painted figures from the painting pile. To that end I polished off these Essex (?) Ashigaru with Yari and Teppo. I normally base all of my Samurai era figs in 1.5" square bases with ~20 figs per unit. My recent affinity for Command and Colors type games, however convinced me to try doing these on 1.5 x .75 in bases instead. I am still trying to get the right look and balance however.
What are your first impressions of Zvezda's Command and Colors Samurai variant? Does it play as cleanly as the ancients? Looking forward to taking the game and your 15mm Samurai for a spin on the tabletop.
ReplyDeleteSome colourful figures from this period. I once had an old Avalon Hill board game (Shogun?) that covered the Japanese power struggles of those times.
ReplyDeleteI havn't had a chance to try the rules out yet. The basic structure is the same as CCA, but the honor rules make for a little more complex game. The honor tokens and deck are reminiscent of the magic system from a fantasy boardgame. We'll have to try it out next time you come down...
