I picked up a pack of Egyptian cavalry from Old Glory at the same time I picked up the Chariots. The pack comes with 10 models with separate horses and riders. There are two models for the riders. One with a box, and the other with a riding crop? My Kushite army is already dense with Skirmishers and missile weapons, so these will provide a little mobility to protect the flanks from the Assyrian Hammer.
This is a case where the tiny horses are actually more true to history than other collections. I envision these guys represent scouts and couriers rather than functional battle cavalry. The bow armed troops fit in rather easily, but I wasn't sure what to do with the other riders. I decided to just bunt and add Javelins in their left hands rather than try to deal with shields or the riding crop.
These light horsemen look great, Jake! You are in high gear once again on your painting output. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your Kushites on the field of battle after we get passed the self-isolating stage of life.
Indeed, I should have a rather more formidable collection to face you with by then.
DeleteLooks good; I may add a pack of these to my next Old Glory order.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the "riding crops" are Egyptian Bronze Age Flails? :-)
I suspect they are meant to be Javelins., or bows???
They are definitely short sticks with what looks like a leather thong sticking out of the end. Not the most imposing casting to be honest.
