...and finally they are done. This was probably the most difficult unit to paint for the entire collection so far. The absence of reference materials, combined with the Korean propensity for garishly painted shields made these a bit challenging. In the end, I opted to fo with some subtle blues and deep reads on the uniforms to off-set the mix of colors on the shields. I went with pastel tones as well as the sword and shield men I did a couple of years ago came out way too bright:
ahhh! my eyes!! |
Anyway, that is a problem for another time. I have two more units of cavalry to go and then I will have met my annual goals for one more project.
These heavies are a colorful lot. The shields are amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks. fortunately they are embossed, so I can "paint by numbers"
DeleteWow. They are a colourful bunch! Beautifully painted Sir.
ReplyDeleteI agree- wow! The palette you have chosen here works just great. TTS would certainly work fine with these armies.
ReplyDeleteI hope it will. I am currently gridding out my 6x4 custom felt mat to play test the rules with them.
DeleteFantastic looking Koreans. I know what you mean about finding resources for these troops. The Perrys website doesn't show many heavy troops, much less painted. The shields look amazing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean. The most useful resource I found was the War museum in Seoul, although that is admittedly not a readily available resource for most wargamers.
