Flailing wildly with the brush as the year closes....

A few more figures from the random pile.  This time a trio of SAW US Infantry Skirmishers.  I primed and mounted these figures on Breaker Panel knockouts in the previous century, so I supposed it is as good a time as any to actually complete them.

As with all the previous SAW models I have posted, the challenge here is color matching with the existing collection.  Most of the paints I used back then were from the Polly-S military and fantasy lines and have long since dried up.  I've found some fairly good matches through Vallejo and Army Painter.  I also found that giving the minwax treatment to a lot of the old figures tends to do a good job of rehabilitating their neglected paint schemes as well as helping them blend with these new additions.  The protective coating provided by the minwax is also proving to be much more resilient that the simple dull-coat coatings I used in the past.

Otherwise, my SYW projects are continuing well.  I have several regiments of 10mm Austrian Infantry awaiting their regimental flags, and a veritable horde of Russian Cavalry awaiting basing.  Meanwhile my Korean Heavy Cavalry and Archers glare at me from unfinished eyes waiting their turn for highlights and finishing touches.  Too many irons in the fire I suppose.

  1. It is not "flailing" is figures are getting painted. The SAW is seeing a little action on my paint desk too with a trio of prone US markers.

    1. I think flailing is an excellent descriptor for my method as I often have 5-10 partially completed units sitting around the table at any given moment. I embrace the hobby aspect as I refuse to let it look like any form of organized work....

    1. Thank you. I hope to add enough to finish the squad before the end of the current decade.
