Troitsy Infantry Regiment

Another regiment complete!  This time the Troitsky Line Regiment.  Not too much to add to the previous update as the paint scheme and organization is identical.  The only variations are the symbols on the flags, and the color of the Colonel's horse.
That last two line regiments for this division are also complete save for the mounted Colonel's!  (Turns out I forgot to paint enough earlier.)  The will have to wait a bit then.  I also decided that rather than re-basing the 2nd and 4th Grenadier Regiments I would just add one stand each of additional grenadiers.  This would still allow me to consolidate to represent the larger regiments, but also save a little time.  I will pause for your shouts of disapproval and outrage.

  1. Excellent! You are cranking these battalions/regiments out at a very swift pace. We will be seeing Russians on the march toward Zorndorf in no time. I like the Blue Moon sculpts.

    1. Thanks. I like these sculpts as well. The first four regiments were done with the lead rank firing, but I am finding that storage and movement for them is a little more tricky. I think I am going to go with marching poses from here on out.

    2. Marching pose is more stately for SYW figures, I think.

  2. Great to watch your progress on this project. A group of us at my club have agreed to do Zorndorf on the August bank holiday weekend (which coincides nicely with the 260th anniversary), so I've got four more line regiments and some Cossacks to paint. And probably the Observation Corps as well.

    1. Thanks. Your project is one I have been watching for inspiration, and ideas. Have you found a source for the Observation Corps Grenadiers or are you using normal Grenadier figures?

    2. Not yet. All the alternatives seem to be larger than Essex (which the rest of the army is) although Old Glory 15s seem to be closer in size than Blue moon and Eureka. I might end up using Essex and painting the gaiters to look like dragoon boots.

    3. I was looking at the Old Glory 15's Grenadiers and was concerned they would be smaller than my Blue Moon 18's. Thanks for the tip, I will try them out.

  3. More eye candy...beautiful work.

  4. A handsome regiment and more progress towards the finish line (not to be confused with the Finnish line!).
