Rehabilitating the Past - Empire Handgunners

December has really become a month for finishing old projects around here.  Between completing my new display cabinets and my new work bench, I have had a real drive to complete the partial projects laying around here.

Wood-Working!
So today we have the remainder of my old Empire hand gunners and a couple of command group figs to round out a 20 man regiment.

I still haven't decided on an appropriate banner for the formation.  I also have around 40 Foundry Landsknecht pike I am painting in similar colors to create an infantry force to accompany them.  This Rehabilitation project has became a hobby unto itself.  I may eventually play a game with the figures, but my brain no longer seems to acknowledge that as the point.

  1. Nice brushwork on the figures and your painting area is really quite expansive. Take a photo after about a month for comparison.

Probably a relief and sense of closure to finish off old projects. Sometimes, the journey IS the goal.

    1. That photo is about a week old. The current painting area is roughly a 3" square.....

  2. One thing about finishing projects - it's nice to be able to just take a game "off the shelf" and be able to play ion fairly short notice, rather than worry that you have to paint up such and such in time for the game!

    1. True. Its also nice to have an army that looks good on the shelf as well. I have these on display with my historicals in the Den. I admit that the Babylon 5 space ships and Battletech minis are still in closed storage...

    2. "Coffee Table" troops have their role as well - my ECW armies filled that role for many years.
