More 6mm Fatimids

This time it is the Fatimid archers from Baccus.  I based these 6/stand to match my other archer units, but am now thinking 8/stand would give a better look.  The robes were painted with the same variation of colors as the spearmen, with some random blue and yellow turbans thrown in for affect.  I completed three units of four stands, with enough left over for three more stands.  Those figures may instead go to beef-up the appearance of these stands.

There is a nice variation of figures with four different sculpts, two of which have the arrows modeled as well as the bow.  The detail here is fairly good, you can pick out some facial features as well as beards.  You can also pick out their belts and quivers, as well as what appears to be a scabbard.  The only weak point were that some of the models came out 'pin-headed' from the mold.  (See back left in above pick)  These are on par with all of the other medieval/ancient near east archers I have purchased/painted so far.

Here are a couple of stands with some infantry stands(for doing a mixed unit).  The spare look is why I want to plus up these stands.

This completes all of the infantry that came with the the WMA Fatimid army packs.  Next I need to paint the Mameluke Cavalry, Bedouin Cavalry and Heavy Cavalry contingents.  Hopefully by mid-November.

As a weird aside, I rarely look at things like page hits for my blog.  (This is more of my open diary and inspiration to maintain my painting tempo and strike down the lead pile.)  That said, the Fatimid Spearmen post has become the second most viewed post I have ever done, and received more hits in one day than most of my posts do in total.  All that and no comments.  Spambots?

added note:  Yup, a barage of 'visits from "vampirestat.com"  a quick google search for the company shows they are a spambot that hits you rblog multiple times to get you to follow their link and hit you with advertisement.  Be warned.  That bot just pushed the last post to the most visited I have ever had....

  1. Spambot and the fact that Tango01 on TMP posted a link to your Fatimid post.

    1. I saw that. Is there a story behind him? At first glance it looks like he is claim ing them.

    2. Story seems to be that Tango has a lot of free time to troll the web posting miniatures related items he finds interesting onto TMP. Lucky you! He found your 6mm Arabs interesting.

  2. You will get episodic bursts of spambot activity, and then they die down again.

Meanwhile I agree with the aesthetics of more archers per stand

    1. Thanks, I will add a few to see how they look. After my initial round of Impetus with Jon, I want to try out a few rounds of BI crusade games to get the hang of the rules

    1. They are at their best when moddleing massive battles. The figure density makes the battles seem more epic in scale.
