Bosniak Lancers

My first Prussian cavalry unit for this project!  I admit I went with something a little off the beaten path, but I always like the look of lancers.  I ordered a pack of the Pendraken's Bosniak lancers in my last order as I had yet to try their Cavalry castings.  Lancers are not available from the Old Glory line, so it seemed a good fit.

The castings themselves are all single piece and well detailed for the size.  They are a little larger and thicker than the Old Glory models.  Think Eureka versus Blue Moon cavalry if you are familiar with those 15.18mm lines of figures for the period.

From what I can find, the Bosniak lancers never served in larder than a squadron formation as part of the 5th Hussars.  I still plan to use them, but will just treat them as normal Prussian Hussars for game stats.

My Prussian cavalry order from Old Glory has not yet arrived, so expect to see more Austrians in the near future.

  1. Very impressive first unit for the Prussians; lancers no less.

    1. I will take any excuse to paint lancers for any period.

  2. A nice change up - not a tricorne, miter, or mirliton to be seen! :-)

    1. I do like the unique nature of the unit. It is nice to have 1-2 groups to stand out on the table at this scale. The same is true with Zuoave's for ACW. Just a little splash of color among the dull grays, browns and blues.

  3. Very nice. Like the little pennants on the lances.
