Qin light infantry

The first of my three medium (light) infantry units is finally done.  I have been working on these guys off and on all month, and struggling to get the look right.  I have 30 total models broken out into a spear unit, a dagger-ax unit and this unit of mixed weapons.  Assembly was rather time consuming and the shields were not simple to affix.

I really like the look of these figures for massed figure games like Impetus, but I would really prefer them in plastic.  The separate weapon arm, shield and heads would all fit much better using plastic weld (or being cast with sockets.)  The realistic proportions also lend themselves better to plastic the thin metal weapons bend readily.

All the critiques aside, I like the way this army is coming together as I reach the conclusion.  I only have 9 light cavalry and the command figures to go at this point.

  1. Looking good! Are you worried that the polearms may not hold up to the rigors and abuse during a game? They look bendy already.

    1. They are very bendy which is why I am focusing on doing these guys on Impetus unit stands rather than use the individual basing provided. Even at this point I am concerned that each game will result in an extensive adhesive application session.

  2. Looking good. I agree the weapons may have longevity issues, but, eh!

Multipart assembly I am not a fan of, but it is worse in metal. The BTD Egyptians I just did worked fine with Superglue, but the beautiful Kingmaker Huisites I am working on now were a complete nightmare to glue. More on that when the time copmes...

    1. I look forward to see them. I definately got extra mileage out of pinning and epoxy.
