Renaissance in 6mm - Landsknecht

For my first mini post of 2017 I opted for two complete 6mm Landsknecht squares in all their multi-color splendor!  I went whole-hog with these guys and just mixed up the colors to get the right look from a distance.  I am very pleased with how they turned out, and now have just enough to produce one more square, so they will get some reinforcements.. eventually.

For this group I have two 3-stand squares.  I did these with my customary double stand+1 to allow me to minimize stand removal (and get the mass of the unit right.)

Supporting each pike square is a stand of Zweihanders and Handgunners

I still have the Halberdiers and some Crossbowmen left to do, but I have managed to tackle the majority of this project rather quickly.  For me.

    1. Thanks. Now to replicate them in 28mm!

    2. A pike block in 28mm is significantly more work. I am timidly beginning one now. 40+ at one time is a daunting activity for me.

  4. The effect en masse is really nice. I think this year I must paint a new Pike Block myself, drawn from the depths of the Lead Pile!

    1. Pike blocks can be habit forming. Once you get that first one done, there is always room for "just one more."
